With a low profile design, the SHIMANO R317 mechanical disc brake is compatible with post mount framesets and is offered in black and silver. It is compatible to the shifting performance of road brake levers and STI's.  

It pleases with its compact design and flat profile. Pad re-adjustment has been improved over a previous version, as has the New Super SLR* technology for optimal response and good dosing. The resin brake offers ideal braking performance under wet and dry conditions.

SLR stands for Shimano Linear Response. In its " new" version, this braking system is designed for maximum friction reduction in the brake caliper, brake lever and inner cable. This improves the brake's responsiveness and dosage.
